Today my cousin, Becky and I visited my mom's grave and left her some fall flowers. My dad placed the large Coleus plant on the left there this summer and it's still going strong! The two mums are the plants Becky and I put there today. I like to replace the summer flowers with mums because they are so hardy and will last through colder weather. I can usually count on them to stay pretty until it's time for the Christmas flowers to make an appearance.
The rust mums have always been a favorite of mine. My mom loved the color purple and I would love to put them here but they just don't last. I've found that the rust, red and yellow survive the longest. The pink, white and purple ones tend to turn a yucky brownish color.
These beauties are new to me but I'm hoping that the combination of the yellow and red will last until December. These photos certainly do not do the flowers justice... they are beautiful in person.
